On the 13th of August 2016, members of the «Radioamateurs Association of Chios» will activate the group of islands «KALOGEROI» as SZ8ARC/P for the GreekIOTA – GIOTA award program NAS-008 (New One).
Τhat reside in the middle of the Aegean sea, 26 nautical miles from the west coast of Chios Island and 25 nautical miles from the eastern coasts of Andros island.
The coordinates are:

There usually are strong winds, in the area around the islets and there isn’t any safe anchorage.
For that reason the team will stay only for 6 to 8 hours, before going back with the same boat that will be waiting for them sailing around the area.
Operators: SV8JTS Odysseas and SY8BEB Giannis. (possible two more people)
They will climb at the top of the islet and set up the station near the light house.
It is estimated to start running sometime between 5.30 to 11.00 UTC
They will focus on 20m & 40m and if the propagation permits it they will make contacts in 17 and 15 meters too, with a vertical antenna and ICOM 706MKIIG.

Bit more about the islands «Νησίδες Καλόγεροι» Kalogeroi (Monks) rocky islets..
They are at the center of the Aegean Sea (Aigaion Sea) Hellas – Greece.
They refer to both as Kalogeroi Chios and as Kalogeroi Andros.
Located 26 miles northeast of Cape Kabanos of Andros Island, 24 nautical miles southwest of Antipsara and 26 nautical miles west of the island of Chios.
The Kalogeroi consist of two rocky islets. The Megalos (Big) Kalogeros has an area of 6 acres, height 36.5 meters and a coastline of 302 meters.
The Megalos Kalogeros distinguished relics monastery where monks lived. There are buildings of an older settlement, thougth.
In the southeast there is a extension with reefs, which are difficult to approach the main island. The safest anchorage is located in the south, although this is dangerous. Surrounded by waters deepen abruptly and even as high as 70 meters a short distance from the cliff. In the rocks are carved steps. On top of the lighthouse is iron, which replaced an older stone. Situated 1,400 meters to the northeast of the Megalos (Great) Kalogeros is the Mikros (Little) Kalogeros, which has an area of 1.8 acres, coastline 237 meters and a height of just one meter.
